Meet Our Trainers

Emily Smith and Jacquelin Knighton bring decades of experience to Whole Doula. As the founders and owners of Doulas of Capitol Hill, one of the premiere doula agencies in the DMV (D.C., Maryland, Virginia) area, they’ve supported hundreds of families through the postpartum period. They’ve witnessed firsthand how vital compassionate and knowledgeable support is for new parents, and they have brought that passion and expertise to this training program.

Our training philosophy is rooted in the same principles that guide Doulas of Capitol Hill: a deep respect for the diverse needs of families, a commitment to empowerment, and a focus on evidence-based practices. With Whole Doula, you’re not just learning the technical skills – you’re becoming part of a community that values and supports each doula’s growth and success.
